What the App accesses
The App requests no access to your products, orders, customers or other store data. It only uses Shopify's billing system to manage your subscription, and stores your age gate settings (minimum age, texts, colors and display options you enter) in private app data on your Shopify store, so your theme can display the age gate.
What we store on our servers
- Your shop domain, and the Shopify access and refresh tokens needed to authenticate API requests
- Whether your subscription or free trial is active, when your free trial started, and when the App was installed
- Server logs that record your shop domain alongside technical events (for example webhooks received), used only to operate and troubleshoot the App
We do not collect, store or process any personal data of your customers.
Your storefront visitors
The age gate asks your shoppers to confirm their age. The answer is handled entirely in the shopper's own browser: the App sets no cookies, runs no tracking or analytics, and sends no visitor data to our servers. If a shopper enters a date of birth, it is used only to work out their age on the spot and is never stored or transmitted.
When a shopper confirms their age, the App saves a small note in the browser's local storage (or session storage, if you choose to ask again every visit) that says until when the answer is valid and the minimum age it was given for. It never leaves the browser, contains no personal information, and is needed so the shopper isn't asked on every page. A shopper who answers that they are too young is remembered for the current browsing session only.
If you add a logo link, the shopper's browser loads that image from the address you entered; if you set a redirect page for under-age shoppers, they are sent to that address.
Please note that the age gate is a self-declaration pop-up, not a legal identity verification.
Data retention and deletion
When you uninstall the App, Shopify removes the App's stored age gate settings from your store, and we delete your access token right away. Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks (customer data request, customer redact and shop redact) are supported; because we hold no customer data, the customer requests need no action, and all remaining shop data is permanently deleted when we receive the shop redact request (48 hours after uninstall). Server logs are kept only as long as needed to troubleshoot the App and are deleted periodically.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time what data we hold about your shop, or ask us to delete it, by emailing the address below. Data is used only to provide the App and is never sold or shared with third parties.
